Global warming and commercial over fishing are driving traditional fish stocks away from existing habitats towards deeper and cooler waters.

This is gradually influencing tackle design for enthusiastic shore anglers who wish to pursue their sport under changing conditions.

Species such as pout, sea bass, john dory and red mullet are increasingly populating more northerly latitudes and this presents new opportunities for dedicated designs that are targeted towards changing ecosystems.

Century has spent over a year working with Danny Moeskops - world casting champion - designing Carbon Metal BB. 

The new rod is a well thought out progression of an existing principal - originally favoured by Continental anglers.

In accordance with Century's design principals - the focus is very much based on performance and ease of use.

Selected carbon fibres - that are unobtainable in mass manufacturing markets due to international regulations - are used extensively in Century's rods and these grades of carbon in conjunction with Autoclaving give Carbon Metal BB outstanding performance both with fixed spool and multiplier.

Century Carbon Metals have a well-established track record with anglers and although these new BB's are a very capable OTG and Pendulum style casting rods - the distances achievable by overhead casters are very substantial.

Very long range, overhead casting, OTG and Pendulum using fixed spool or multiplier. 6lb - 10lb lines on fixed spool and 10 - 20lb lines on multiplier. (use fingerstalls on fixed spool) Variable reel position using Century winch fitting with SS Coaster. Original action over long term - retained due to Autoclaving. Extremely light and easy to use at 15'. Mid to tip action. Easy to cast and not timing critical. Good bite detection on heavier lines. The BB's are finished in black silver and silver metallic tyings over Century SiC heavy-duty guides. Distinctive Carbon Metal composite at top of butt section. Woven carbon 3k-1k fabric and epoxy gloss.
