as henry an pat know ive been visiting the shop now 4 about ten years 4 all my sea angling requirements and i just thought id say that i think the shop is better than ever.Ive built up a healthy relationship with the lads and find them friendly down to earth and easy to deal with while still remaining professional and efficient.Recently ive noticed the prices comin down which is a welcome bonus and the website is brilliant as it enables me to browse through tackle and make decisions on purchases without havin to make the trip down to the shop.I commend the lads on keeping the shop as up to date as they do and welcome a new year hopefully filled with big bass(by the way i recently landed 2 fantastic cod one 3ib an 1 just over 5lb in greystones). Keep up the good work boys

ps for you shore anglers out there check out the daiwa slosh which henry is selling 4 100euro and the penn mag extra for only 130 euro two great reels at the lowest prices you’ll find them in dublin real bargains and i recently purchased a century kompressor s rod which (if you can cast) is a really top class rod.

Great to hear youve been getting some good fishing on the East coast and weve been getting good reports for a couple of months now about some decent size cod.Hopefully this signals a slight recovery in stocks which reached an all time low due to overfishing by our own and foreign fishing fleets.I hope they can keep their greedy hands off them this time so that they don’t fish themselves out of business like usual.
Raheny & District SAC are holding a Beach Fishing Competition sponsored by Henry’s Tackle Shop in Kilcoole on Sunday 17th Jan.Check in 10.30am -12.
It will be interesting to see the kind of catches that come from there.

ye they were the biggest cod ive caught in years from the open coast all though i can let other dublin shore anglers in on my secret cod mark which is killiney. For years now ive been able to lure fairly big fish out of the rocks there just past the tea rooms with not much effort but only in eary autumn from late august to mid october. My advice is to head straight down into the rough ground armed with a bucket full of leads and a rg wallet full of pulley rigs and fish the slack the tide. The only bait worth trying here is fresh peeler crab although mussel can be used to bulk baits up… I no alot of dublin anglers overlook this mark choosing to head down the coast to wexford (which i also do myself) but I can assure you that I know this mark like the back of my hand and the sport can be excellent especially in autumn.I have landed personal best cod to 7lb,wrasse to 5lb and my biggest ever bass which topped the scales at over 11lb all within a 50yrd stretch on this beach. For those aren up to tackling the rocks and loosing gear the beach its self ofers exceppional flatfish , coalies , dogfish etc all year round and i have personally witnessed local lads land decent bass on lures straight from the beach. I was onto tom fogarty henry and i should be in kilcoole on the 17th
